Title: Ugly Love
Author: Colleen Hoover
Rating: <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Synopsis: It’s not exactly love at
first sight for Tate Collins when she meets the tormented and secretive Miles
Archer. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The
only thing Tate and Miles have in common is a mutual physical attraction that
can’t be denied. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they
might have stumbled on the perfect no-strings arrangement. He isn’t looking for
love, and she doesn’t have time for it – so that leaves just the sex.
What they’ve got could be surprisingly satisfying, as long as Tate can stick to
the two rules Miles has for her: never ask about the past; don’t expect a
future.
They think they can handle it, but
everything is different when real emotions start to change the equation.
Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.
My Thoughts: Holy googly-moogly; this book
was hot, hot, hot. I haven’t read a sexy book like that in such a long time. My
goodness, thinking about the scenes has me fanning myself even now. *shiver* *eyes glaze* Anway ...
I love how the only Miles POV we get is
from his past and how his obsession/love for Rachel coincides with Tate’s
present POV and how her obsession/love for Miles progresses. And that’s exactly
what it is with them. They become obsessed with the other first, and then
slowly start falling in love.
I will say, Ms. Hoover kept me interested
in Miles’s past and what made him so against falling in love (although you can
totally tell he’s doing just that the entire time, he just doesn’t wanna label
it). Each time she reveals a part of his past, you’re shocked but then it’s not
enough to push love away. And then
BAM! she smacks you with the ultimate and you are crushed. It made
me very bitter toward Rachel.
Tate; oh lovely, stupid Tate. How could
you take one look at Miles and go; sure sex is all I’ll ever need from him.
Seriously? He is gorgeous and wants you with a ferocity that knows no limits
and you agree to “not ask questions” or “expect a future”??? I’m mystified; but
maybe that’s because I’m too curious for my own good and my emotions are
entangled in everything I do. I liked her, though; I liked how driven she was
with her career and schooling, and I liked her relationship with her brother.
Corbin reminds me a lot of my youngest brother and despite my brother being
younger by 5 years; he looks out for me just like Corbin does Tate.
“And I realized … just now … that God gives us the ugliness so we don’t take the beautiful things in life for granted.” - Miles
