“She was the heir of ash and fire, and she would bow to no one.”
Celaena Sardotihien has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak – but at an unspeakable cost. Now she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth … a truth about her heritage that could changer her life – and her future – forever.
Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. To defeat them, Celaena must find the strength not only to fight her inner demons but to battle the evil that is about to be unleashed.
The king’s assassin takes on an even greater destiny and burns brighter than ever before. – Book jacket
“I am going to rattle the stars.” - Celaena
Needless to say, I picked up the book because I just can’t get enough of the world Maas has created. The characters have definitely wedged themselves into my soul and I don’t think there will ever be a time (even when the series is finished) that I won’t think of the Celaena, Dorian, Chaol, Rowan, Nehemia and all the other amazing characters Maas has given life to in the Throne of Glass world. This series is BY FAR my most favorite and it is the one I recommend to EVERYONE.
“Because I am lost, and I do not know the way.” - Celaena
There are no dislikes for this book, other than the fact that I feel my ChaolxCelaena ship looks like it may be sinking. L Otherwise, I loved this book; just like I loved the ones before it (and surely the ones to come after). I keep thinking things can’t get any more intense or mind-blowing and then Maas brings in new and exciting characters or a plot twist a psychic couldn’t have even predicted. ;)
I liked the new characters Maas introduced, especially Manon and Asterin. They are ruthless and getting a real insight into the Witches in the book was incredible. I’m glad she brought them into the tale instead of just leaving the scene with Baba Yellowlegs as the only encounter.
My favorite part with the Witches – and perhaps the entire book – was when Manon chose Abroxas as her wyvern. Despite fighting tooth and nail for the honor of becoming the Wing Leader for the Blackbeak Clan, she chose the under dog.
Rowan was also another great addition. He seems so opposite (and yet the same) as Celaena that I just love watching them butt heads. He is so typically Fae male and she so used to her independence that their spats are amusing as hell.
I claim you. To whatever end.” - Rowan
